Thieves and grinders

MAJ Robert Butts, stationed in Tikrit, Iraq;

Finally, I just returned from a trip to Baghdad. The main reason I went down there was simply to help my Assistant S3 carry back $8 million – cash! Money is HEAVY! It’s almost surreal that we had that much. Anyway, we use the money to pay Iraqi contractors for the projects they are undertaking to rebuild the shattered infrastructure. Most of this money comes from the seized assets of Saddam’s regime by the way. These guys don’t take checks. For those of you thinking of stealing this money (or thinking that we’re stealing it) forget about it. The serial numbers on the bills are consecutive and recorded. A thief wouldn’t be able to spend it without getting caught.

As the World turns..
