THE Howard Government insists it did not speak to the United States about the sentence that gags David Hicks until after the federal election, even though ministers knew the penalty before the deal on his fate was made public.

Recently, the ex-public servant turned whistleblower (you know, the kind that point out something wrong that needs to be fixed in order to potentially save lives but is being actively resisted/suppressed/ignored by the Federal Government) Kessing could have a lot to say about this Government's cynicism when it comes to protecting its position.

What a bunch of nasty little thugs.
