Defeated comprehensively, for a whole heap of reasons. That's the lot of a leader with a divisive approach like Howard's.

I'm apprehensive about Rudd, but am confident he will apply a much more cerebral style to governing the country and won't be keen to grab the dog whistle like Howard was. Still, I'm doing a happy dance.
