Brutal Milestones and Murderous Turning Points

Congratulations freedom fry lovin' democracy builders! Saddam's double has been executed.. finally. That pesky kangaroo court sure took long enough to sentence him to hang. Give yourselves a big pat on the back. Go on, you don't deserve it.

Me, I'm doing cartwheels. Big ol'cartwheels. And heel clicks. This is a great day for freedom and democracy.

Right now, I'm gonna sit back with a well aged whiskey and a panatella. Alright.

So, the ol'Sadders is an ex-brutal ruler. Maybe now the US will think twice before propping up a Dictator? Especially one that's liable to start murdering a heap of people with the chemical weapons you've just sold him. Ha! Not likely.

Intelligent comment can be found here and here.

Apparently, you can find footage of the execution on teh nets. Suh-weet. How good are we?

Brutal.

Lists, Jerry, lists!

Juan Cole knows nothing about Iraq:

Top Ten Myths about Iraq 2006

1. Myth number one is that the United States "can still win" in Iraq. Of course, the truth of this statement, frequently still made by William Kristol and other Neoconservatives, depends on what "winning" means. But if it means the establishment of a stable, pro-American, anti-Iranian government with an effective and even-handed army and police force in the near or even medium term, then the assertion is frankly ridiculous.

Not a thing. Well maybe he knows ten things.

Sweet tooth

Those who push the Government's agenda, let's call them conservative pundits (or filthy whores to the devil, if you prefer) are currently doing their best to push the meme that the Iraqi's are choosing Civil War over a neat little stable democracy.

Keep up the good work, pundits. How stupid are Iraqi's? A lot.

Still, the pundits and their gang, the MSM, have a lot to make up for. Apparently, they are to blame for the US completely f*cking up the Iraq invasion by not reporting the atrocious events with a balance of 'success' stories.

Believe it.

Roy Edroso comments:

I guess we could have observed every precaution, and equipped all of our warnings that Iraq was a mistake with a little picture of G.I. Joe giving a chocolate bar to an Arab, thus encouraging conservatives to pay attention. Maybe eventually America will resemble Quebec, with bilingual road signs -- e.g., one might say DANGER: BRIDGE OUT, while the one for conservatives might say SUPPORT OUR TROOPS BY NOTICING THAT THE BRIDGE IS OUT! SEMPER FI! It would be a nuisance, but we're liberals -- we should be kind to retards.

Retards like cake. Don't get between a retard and cake.

Ashes, Cricket, order, restored..

Revenge a dish best served rolled:

"Not considering the cricket we've played. If you look at the way we've played each Test match, then I think we've deserved to win in three," said Ponting, whose men won by 277 runs in Brisbane, six wickets when England's batsmen fell apart on the last day in Adelaide, and 206 runs here in Perth.

"The cricket we've played has been as good as we've seen from this team for a long time. A lot of hard work has gone into what we've done. Since the series started, the guys have been able to rise to every challenge that's been put before them. I'm really proud of the way we've approached this whole thing."

Men of the People: Both Rudd and Howard either turned up at the game or telephoned their congratulations. Keep up the good work, fellas.

Re-animeconomy

Ross Gittins on why the Business Cycle will never die:

Get it? When you fix one source of economic mismanagement and instability you encourage imbalances to emerge in other areas. Stabilise the real economy and you unwittingly invite problems in the financial economy because stability encourages people to risk gearing up in pursuit of higher profits.

Every period of stability fosters the seeds of its own destruction.

Life is like a box of mangled human body parts

Baghdad suicide bombs kill at least 60:

First a BMW car rear-ended a police vehicle and exploded, prompting crowds of day laborers and stallholders to take shelter on the other side of the square. Two minutes later a pickup truck ploughed into the crowd and exploded.

"After the explosion, not a single person in the square was standing. I thought everyone was dead," said Khaled Nasser, a laborer who searched the wreckage for four of his companions. "I found them all cut in half - no legs - and for some I could only find their heads," he said.

How far can you throw 'em?

Anthrax attack on US Congress made by scientists and covered up by FBI, expert says:

Dr. Jonathan King, Professor of Molecular Biology at M.I.T. and a founder of the Council for Responsible Genetics, said the government's "growing bioterror programs [described by Professor Boyle] represent a significant emerging danger to our own population."

A harsh critic of Pentagon biowarfare activities, Boyle pointed out in inflation-adjusted dollars the US spends more on them today than it did on the Manhattan Project to develop the atomic bomb in World War II. He has accused the Bush administration of diverting the bio-tech industry "towards biowarfare purposes" and of making corrupting payoffs to Academia to turn university scientists to the pursuit of biowarfare work.

Hell, why wouldn't they? Considering their actions over the last 5 years, this is no stretch.

annanother thing...

Annan's parting swipe at Bush:

In his most explicit rebuke, Mr Annan said America had sacrificed its global leadership on human rights because of its methods in the war on terror.

"When it appears to abandon its own ideals and objectives, its friends abroad are naturally troubled and confused," Mr Annan said, according to a text of his remarks released by the UN.

It has been said many times by equally emminent and much less important people, but it's still bears repeating. An undeniable and verifiable pointy of reality, Ruth.

Any country who supported the US in their chosen method of executing the WoT may well have shifted up a place or two on people's list of "I don't give a f*ck what happened to 'em, they're not worth sh*t."

Way to go, Bush. Fool.

Whaaaaaaaaat!?!

Israel denies Olmert hinted nuclear aspirations:

"Iran, openly, explicitly and publicly threatens to wipe Israel off the map. Can you say that this is the same level, when they are aspiring to have nuclear weapons, as America, France, Israel, Russia?"

Olmert's spokeswoman, Miri Eisen, who accompanied the prime minister on a trip to Germany on Monday, said he did not mean to say that Israel possessed or aspired to acquire nuclear weapons.

"No he wasn't saying anything like that," she said.

You lying sacks of excrement.

Mordechai Vanunu would likely be flippin' out about now.

No soup for you!

Iraq’s President Harshly Criticizes U.S. Strategy:

The leaders of the Iraq Study Group, James A. Baker III and Lee H. Hamilton, defended their report on Sunday against Mr. Talabani’s attack. “Up until this point, we’ve given a blank check to the Iraqis,” Mr. Hamilton said on CNN. “And I’m not surprised that the president would like that sort of a deal. But we believe that the American people want our aid to be conditional. We want that aid to be given only if there is a response from the Iraqi government that shows performance.”

The nerve of these clowns. After they’ve completely f*cked up the Iraqi's country by invading it on a neat little bait and switch routine, dropped a pile of bombs and assorted ordnance on their heads, unleashed an indefinable war, they expect Iraqi's to build themselves some hoops and hop on through ‘em on the say-so, like pronto!

Is this the same sort of tough-love tactic Poppa Bush used on Dubya to wean him off the coke and grog?

Yeah, that’ll work.

Me, I like the idea that Talabani hasn’t really shown that he has the sh*ts, until now.

“Sure, kill 500,000 of my people, but don’t be suggesting that we’re some sort of colonial state, bumping around the joint like a child in a walker.”

Outrageous.

Takin' out the trash

"MORE than five years of offshore detention, most of it on the tiny island of Nauru, is almost over for Mohammed Sagar, one of the world's loneliest refugees, after a Scandinavian country agreed to resettle him."

Hooray for ASIO! Keeping us safe from nasty characters like this fella and ensuring we rocked up to Iraq's freedomapalooza in search of non-existent WMD's.

Keep up the good work, team. I'm glad your decisions are in no way politicised.

And to prove the inherent lying nature of these 'refugees', check the latest from Iraq. News like this will firmly bolster Howard's support amongst Australian voters.

"Send 'em back!"

Ah, sweet, I got mine.
